AHC: Reasonable Operation Seelowe

If not a SeaLion, how about a GroundHog? Make SeaLion a total sham maneuver a la FUSAG while the real invasion comes from somewhere totally unexpected.

Could the Nazis feasibly complete the long-proposed Chunnel somehow and just *drive* to the UK?

Not without everyone knowing... such an undertaking cannot be done in secret. And it is too simple to collapse the tunnel when the bulk of the forces are inside.

Germany actually bothers to create amphibious assault craft.

The Luftwaffe targets RAF installations and other military assets rather than carpet bombing London.

The Germans don't invade the Soviet Union.

The Royal Navy ceases to exist.

Oh, and, the obvious is that the Luftwaffe gains air superiority and the Kriegsmarine gains naval superiority.

I'm just taking into account everything that would be needed to have the plan get to go-ahead, the land conflict is a whole different story.

Except that it's a very long way away from anywhere in Europe, more than 450 km, and the only place under 470 km distance is Utsira, a tiny island.
If Scapa is too far away to attack how come Britain's first civilian casualty was killed in an air raid on the place?

A decent torpedo bomber is absolutely requisite to even beginning to take on the RN, and by decent I mean something with a single engine and an empty weight of under about 6 tons.

I'd say you could be more likely to do it if you made it so that it was the Germans rather than the British who took an early interest in carriers (maybe the British get overconfident about their battlewagons while the Germans, knowing they can't keep up, try desperately to find some other way to strike at them).

I never said it was impossible, just that it wasn't easy, and it's not, it's further from Kirkwall (the biggest town in the archipelago) to Kopervik (the nearest major town in Norway), than from London to Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam. Also, only a couple of raids were made, indicating that it wasn't a worthwhile target.

Secrecy is probably not going to be at the top of the list or will not stay there for terribly long as the French Resistance will get wind of what is going on eventually. If you build it wide enough for three or four trucks going one way and deep enough to resist bombing runs, maybe with submarine pen style concrete near the opening, would it be plausible to do this?

The other problem is that once you have the ability to do a successful Sealion, you don't actually necessarily need to do it to force the UK to terms, because you've already strangled it by blockade. :)

An expansionist fascist Great Britain who tries to invade neighboring European countries won't cause an European coalition to fight against her? (Great Britain would probably lose most of her colonies after she loses in WWI)

Why would the UK do that? Even Hitler had at least some base for most of his demands, reasonable or not.

Are these Fascists Neo-Angevins?
