AHC: Real Amazons

We know that the Sarmatians were known for their female warriors and leaders. We also know that female warriors were not uncommon among the celts (Boadicea) and the germanic tribes. But they were not very common.
But what if the tradition of warrior women never really ended? What if female soldiers were always as common as they are today in OTL?

The Sarmatians and related cultures began to abandon female warriors when the equipment became heavier. While a woman was perfectly capable of being a mounted archer, fewer woman were able to fight with the armour of a Sarmatian heavy lancer. As they were nomads perhaps we can have an early intrusion into mesopotamia or even Arabia, where lighter cavalry has less an disadvantage due to the climate? Of course we have then to prevent their subjugation by or cultural assimilation to one of the male-dominated cultures in the region. A successful mixed-sex army would have huge influence upon the local cultures.
