The Yucatan War?

First American Jihad

The United States as we know it collapses in the 2030s following a brutal civil war between the left and right that is eventually won by the American Right in 2039. What follows is the establishment of a militarist, reactionary dictatorship that eventually sides with Eurofascist regimes intent on wiping out Islam in the mid-2040s.

The American economy enters a very recessionary period following the conflict, which sees Red-Green Germany and an alliance of Middle Eastern democracies defeat the Carolingian League (Far-Right European alliance lead by Front National France) and destroy Israel, leading to a negotiated settlement with the United States. A Cold War between the European Federation (social democratic superstate controlled by Germany in essence) and the United States goes on until the 2070s, when the American economy fully collapses at the same time of the death of the person responsible for holding the regime together in 2078.

From 2078-82, war rages. New England declares itself independent and allies itself with the European Federation, as do various other regions. In the Midwest, the war sees the birth of the Islamic Republic of Dearborn, a Michigan-based Islamic state that rapidly defeats opponents and claims control of the whole of Michigan before expanding into the old rustbelt. By the end of the war and the stabilization of North American borders, the IRD has complete control of the old midwestern states, and enjoys a relatively well sized nuclear arsenal.

Completing modernization plans by 2085, Dearborn prepares itself for conflict with it's conservative southern neighbor, the Christian Republic of Dixie, which is seeking to 'reclaim' the midwest for 'Christendom'. European allied New England is threatening to nuke both sides if they end up going to war, but Dearborn is pre-empted when Dixie attacks Louisville on 1 May 2088. The 'First American Jihad' is launched by Dearborn in response, with the ultimate goal of uniting the whole of the former United States under the purview of the Islamic republic.

War of Teresa's Balcony: Radical Hindus throw out Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity on the excuse that their balcony violates building codes. International outrage follows, and trade deals with India are canceled. Pakistan uses this excuse to invade India while it's isolated... unfortunately, India already has an army even if it can't get resupplied. India launches a daring top-secret landing at Karachi, which seizes half the city; invites Mother Teresa back; and sues for peace with slight border adjustments in Pakistan's favor. Pakistan wants to keep fighting, but Mother Teresa herself convinces them to make peace. Thus ends the War of Teresa's Balcony.
