The Franks were pretty exposed to Roman language and culture IOTL, having been settled in Roman territory since the reign of Julian the Apostate. The Romanization would probably not have occurred if the Franks had not expanded to the more populated lands of Gaul. Have either the Franks fail in conquering Gaul, either by the Visigoths or by a surviving Gallo-Roman state in Soissons that repels the Franks. Instead the Franks focus eastward and retain the Old Frankish language.

Most of Netherlands, Flanders, North Rhine, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Hesse and Franconia are populated by Germanic speaking Franks. the Flemish, Dutch and Luxembourgish languages are mostly descendent from Frankish (Flemish and Dutch from Low Frankish and Luxembourgish from central Frankish). So there's around 30 million L1 speakers of Frankish and 46 million speakers if we includes L2 speakers.
