AHC: Prevent the Breakup of the Soviet Union

Sure there are many ways to save it, despite American Conservative Propaganda it was actually unlikely

1. If Trotksy followed Lenin's advice Stalin might never become leader of the USSR in which case the whole nature of the country will change. Following the new economic policy and promoting intentional revolution might be rough at first but would yield benefits later .

2, This might be an unlikely scenario but it might work
If Zucov can sometime before or after WWII and depose Stalin but again Stalin being successfully deposed after the purge is very unlikely

3. Nitka Krustev with all of his mistakes was one of the best leaders the USSR had, prevent his forced resignation most likely by an averted Cuban missal crisis and the USSR could become a greater superpower most importantly the Brehnev stagnation might never happen

4. As bad of 1991 was I do not think the USSR was doomed even now remembering that a new union treaty was to be signed the day after the coup, prevent the gang of eight the USSR might still stand in which case Western Nations might have to go through their own social democratic perstrokia

5. If Gorbechev takes advantage of the 1993 riots we could see the end of Yestin and red flags in the streets

These are just a few scenarios barley scratching the surface the point is the USSR was not doomed from the beginning because it was so called "immoral" or "atheist"

That again is right wing propoganda

I'm thinking that rather than Perestrokia and Glasnot, we could see a situation similiar to that of China, wherein the economy is liberalized but the political system is not.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. The key to success for the Soviet Union is economic conservatism and political liberalisation?

I don't really think that would work - it certainly didn't in OTL. When people learn that the dirty capitalists are in fact living lives a thousand times better than theirs, and that the ruling elite wants it to stay that way, there will be collapse sooner or later.

I think a refined economic system could had by the mid90's help the USSR see a recovery

but not a chinese deng xiangpang style
