AHC: President Mr. Rogers

If we want to keep Mr. Rogers as the same person he was in OTL, then I can't see him running for president. Mr. Rogers was only political on the narrow band of issues relating to his commitment to children's education, and I can't see him losing focus and still being the same Mr. Rogers we know and love. So if he doesn't run, that leaves two rather unlikely scenarios:

1. Under the right set of circumstances, perhaps Mr. Rogers would agree to be the Secretary of Education. In order to accept the job, though, he'd basically have to be guaranteed that Congress would pass a bipartisan bill giving him the funding and mechanisms to act out his goal of high-quality elementary education for all. And then ... well, the Secretary of Education is 16th in the Line of Succession. So good luck with that POD. :p

2. True OTL fact: Rogers owned a summer home on Nantucket in the village of Madaket. He turned 70 years old in March 1998. Would being Chief Executive of the Council and People of the Republic of Nantucket be good enough for you?

Oh, that's awesome:)! Doubt he'd approve of those punitive expeditions against the Mayans.
