Charles Francis Adams was the son of John Quincy Adams, and the grandson of John Adams. He was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1841, and was the Vice-President nominee (to Martin Van Buren) of the Free Soil Party in 1848, a Rep from 1859-1861, and the Ambassador to the British Empire from 1861-1868. A varied career at least.
He was an influential Massachusetts Whig, and Republican, and I'm curious how he could become President, and what he would do as such.
