AHC: President Babe Ruth

It appears that he really wanted to remain involved in baseball and attempted to get a manager position after his retirement in 1935. To be honest, I am not sure how you will be able to get him to stop pursuing his goal of becoming a manager. However, if he were to get involved in politics somehow then his lifestyle would hurt his prospects. He was known to consume a lot of alcohol and to be a womanizer.

Just for clarification, would you still have the year of his death as 1948 ITTL? Would there be any drastic lifestyle changes?

Babe Ruth died of cancer in 1948 and I don't think his lifestyle caused it. So that is pretty much a decade for any post-baseball career. They should have given him a chance to manage.

By the way, tons of politicians consume lots of alcohol and/ or are womanizers so I don't understand the previous comment positing this as some sort of disqualification.

I agree that he should have been given a chance to manage. However, I did not say that his lifestyle would disqualify him but would hurt his prospects. Maybe I should have reworded that statement...
