AHC:Post 1990 Colombia-Venezuela War?

It seems like Colombia and Venezuela have had the worst relations of any two counties with a land border in the Americas over the last 10 (20?) years (not counting Guantanamo). Is there any way that we can make this an actual war?

If it does occur with something approaching a current Colombian government, what does the US do in such a war? Play peace maker, sell Colombia arms, support with airpower (like OTL Libya), or go in with full troops? Does who the US president is make a large difference here?

Could have happened at several points of crisis the past ~10 years. Whatever the particularly, the scenario would run something like:

- Chavez, made over-confident by new Russian military kit (Su27s, AKs, APCs, etc), and his messiah complex, moves Venezuelan forces into some corner of Colombia as a political gambit.
- Colombian forces easily roll right over Venezuela in response, without any direct outside help, and regardless of pleas from Chavez that it was all a misunderstanding
- Chavez goes into exile (Cuba? Brazil?), pro-Colombia/America government installed in Caracas
- The end.

Ecuador?

Ecuador recently has been a pretty close ally to Venezuela, would Colombia have to worry about its southern Frontier as well as its eastern one?
