AHC: Possible Hyrcanian uprising during Umayyad overthrow

I have read that the area roughly corresponding to the satrap of Hyrcania, which included one of the 'Parthian Houses,' the House of Karen, managed to survive the Umayyad conquest of the Sassanid Empire and survived until 760 when it was conquered by the Abbasids.

This is all the information Wikipedia has on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dabuyid_dynasty

Would this state have been able to expand its territories or extend its lifetime by taking advantage of the Abbasid overthrow of the Umayyads? Were there any other states that tried to do this?

Perhaps it would be prudent for Khurshid to make a sudden move to support the Ummayads against the Abbasids, perhaps while their army is busy besieging the garrison at Wasit? The Dabuyids could then invade the Abbassid lands in Khorasan and the other parts of Persia, trying to rally support from the peasantry and the gentry (both groups were a bit slow in Islamization compared to the urban dwellers). Zoroastrians were still I believe (I'm not too sure) a majority in Persia and there's a chance that they could expel the Muslim Abbasids and then try to defend their acquisitions from the Ummayads?

So this would lead to an earlier fragmentation of the caliphate? If the Abbasids survived where could they flee to if they were driven out of Persia?

And roughly what area would this new Dabuyid Empire cover? Roughly the same area as the Sassanid Empire just prior to the Arab conquest minus Mesopotamia and the Caucasus?

Maybe they would flee to Arabia?

It'll probably be even smaller than that though imo.
