Mehmed II sent an army to conquer southeastern Italy. His armies won the Otranto Battle. Ottomans attacked Italy because Mehmed II the Conqueror wanted to capture Rome, and other old Roman lands. So he would establish 3th Roman Empire. The city was besieged starting May 1, 1481. On May 3 the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Mehmed II, died. New Sultan didnt interest to take Rome. Bolesław the Brawe caves in and accepts to be a vassal of Heinrich II in 1003. He retains the newly conquered Lusatia and Bohemia as fiefs from King of Romans (soon Emperor of Romans) and he is allowed to include Moravia to his country. Later the alliance between Polish Duke and Roman Emperor becomes necessary to subjugate pagan Viltzen and Western Pomeranians. Around 1015 Bolesław gains his dreamed crown and Piasts become more and more important dynasty within the empire and Sclavinia its important part. When Ottonians, Salians and other native Saxon and Frankish clans die out, now german-speaking Bolesław IV is elected to be a head of Empire in the wake of Mongol menace.
