AHC: Perkin Warbeck takes control of England

Basically my challenge to you is to discover some way for there to be a Yorkist restoration with Warbeck as Richard of Shrewsbury Duke of York. I know he had foreign support especially from Scotland and was wondering what it would take for him to take the throne.

If you kill Henry VII off in the 1490s then the Tudor position might be much less secure with a child-king Arthur.

Preventing the pro-Warbeck conspirators from being caught would also be helpful- as it stood by the time he invaded Warbeck proved incapable of attracting any respectable supporters.

But, in general, I'd say he needs some meaningful domestic support to get anywhere. If you can get Henry to be more heavy-handed that might alienate some of the nobility. If you can prevent some of Richard's more hardcore supporters (John de la Pole Earl of Lincoln, Francis Viscount Lovell, the Stafford brothers) from getting themselves killed in fruitless rebellions in the 1480s they might throw in their support, but given their actions in OTL I'm not sure how you can get them to sit on their hands for the better part of a decade.

Of course, there's the added problem that people will be reluctant to risk their necks for someone of supremely dubious legitimacy, especially when there's multiple Yorkist claimants of impeccable legitimacy floating around (the de la Poles, Edward Earl of Warwick).

I always thought the Simnel rebellion had a better chance to be honest- it's earlier, the Tudors have had less time to consolidate. If the Stafford brothers don't get caught in 1486 they could lend their support to Simnel; Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey was supposedly offered the chance to escape the Tower and join the rebellion, so you can find a way to nudge him into doing that; if the Duke of Suffolk dies earlier Lincoln might have more resources at his disposal; some of the Scropes were involved but didn't fight at Stoke.

Of course what a 'successful Simnel' looks like is a mystery- what would have happened if/when the person Simnel was impersonating, Edward of Warwick, was liberated from the Tower? Did Lincoln intend to make a play for the throne himself? Etc.
