AHC peace to end all war

WWI was called the war to end all wars. the challenge with no pod before 11-11-1918 is to create a peace settlement that will prevent all nations who fought in WWI from ever having to fight another nation that fought in WWI

Well, I don't think you can completely stop all conflicts between countries in WWI, but I think a less harsh Versailles treaty would help stop the traditional WWII path from playing out.

The AHC fails instantly, as there were nations which were belligerents during WW I that were fighting each other on 11/11/18 in follow-on conflicts. Britain, for instance, was entangled in the Russian Civil War, opposing the Bolsheviks. Hungary and Romania were not at war yet, but the conflict that broke out in in April 1919 was already festering.

Nor is the long term much better looking. No one of any real influence in 1918 had any idea of establishing the sort of international order that could actually prevent some nation from going to war if it wanted to.

What if we relax the requirement and say there is a loophole for regime change or successor states? By that reckoning the independent Hungarians do not count as a WWI participant, nor do the Bolsheviks or Whites. However, whatever emerges as the Russian Central Government never again fights Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Japan, China or the USA. Germany never fights any of Russia, France, Britain, USA, Italy or Japan. Italy never fights Germany, Russia, France or Britain, Japan never fights China, Russia, Britain, France or the USA.

This is virtually impossible.

The treaty of Sevres imposed on the Ottoman Empire pretty much guaranteed a revolution. The Turkish war of independence naturally followed, and by 1922 Ataturk and his supporters had skilfully defeated the Greeks, the French, the British, the Italians, the Kurds and the royalists.

The partition of the Ottoman provinces in the Arab world has pretty much guaranteed constant conflict, strife and war ever since, up to and including the Israel Palestine conflict, the various wars in Iraq, the rise of ISIS and the domination of the house of Saud.

Stopping all that will be very difficult. While some British officials predicted that an overly harsh treaty would be a disaster, the British prime minister was a pro-Greek fanatic and ignored all advice.
