AHC/PC: Caribbean republic?

Could there had ever been a Caribbean republic consisting of the countries of the Caribbean sans Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic?

The West Indies Federation seems like a good place to start. It could probably be easily expanded to include the remaining British Caribbean possessions. However, getting French, Dutch and especially American islands to join seems much more difficult.

So, is this basically asking Make Republicanism A Thing In The British Caribbean?

I admit, I have often wondered why the British Caribbean, unlike India and most of the UK's African colonies, went for monarchy after independence. Not that is was neccessarily a bad idea(I'm a default monarchist myself), but that it was a consistent trend is somewhat noteworty.

The historic differencesites between those countries are pretty strong. Plus there is the language issue with Haiti being French speaking while Cuba and the Dominican Republic speak Spanish. Outside commercial interests wouldn't want to see them combine and stand as one when they are all weak individually.
Big hurdles to overcome.

Also, the smaller islands would be afraid of being overwhelmed by the bigger ones, which is the main reason the West Indies Federation collapsed IOTL.
