AHC: Pat Buchanan vs. Dennis Kucinich

Your challenge, would you choose to accept it, is to make Pat Buchanan the Republican presidential nominee and Dennis Kucinich the Democratic presidential nominee at the same time in the same election. Third party or independent candidates are of course allowed. If no heavyweights from either parties run as an independent, how would a Kucinich or Buchanan presidency look like? What would be the consequences?

Simple. Backlash from Iraq (or, in 2000, also Yugoslavia) leads voters to reject candidates who supported going to war.

That's kind of what ultimately got Obama the nom, though; doesn't preclude Kucinich from getting it, either, but a more centrist candidate makes it an awful lot harder for a wide majority of people to go for him.

Perhaps a moderate democrat has to appease the more liberal wing of the party with Kucinich. THis moderate is for some reason considered a sure fire winner, so the real contenders stay out of the GOP primaries, and Buchanan wins.

Then the sure fire winner dies or self destructs.

Would be some hilarious debates.:)
