AHC: Paramount Pictures died after 2007 Transformers premier

What has to happen, or what kind of accumulated damage are required to make Paramount Pictures ceased to be an ongoing concern sometimes between August 2007 and December 2007?

In this situation, despite the smashing success of the first Transformers film, the financial situation of Paramount would have to still be so bad that the creditors decided that scrapping the company and take Transformer franchise to the new owner would be a better option. You might say they don't want to throw good money after bad.

Similar to how PolyGram Pictures were sold and their assets liquidated just before Notting Hill premiered. Here, Paramount was still breathing and get to enjoy its last hurrah as the film company in July 2007.

Paramount at this point is too prestigous a brand to simply let die. See MGM Pictures surviving multiple bankruptices. It's also owned by one of the most powerful media companies in the United States. PolyGram was barely a player when it got bought by Universal. You'd have to go decades back to kill Paramount slowly, and doing that means Transformers getting picked up is a no-go or unlikely at best. You'd be better off just having Transformers go to another studio group.
