AHC: Pan-Asian Union

What will it take to create a Pan-Asian Union between India, China, and Japan during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries? Note that the three countries don't necessarily have to start together as part of the Union, they can gradually coalesce into the Union. The ultimate goal of the AHC is achieving the dream of driving the western colonial powers from Asia and forcing the west to accept them as equals, be it peacefully or by force.

Kicking the Western colonial powers our of Asia is the easy part - just supply the locals with an endless stream of cheap guns and ammo until the meat grinder consumes too many Western soldiers and they leave on their own.

The hard part is deciding who gets to lead and shape it. The Chinese because they're the biggest and have traditionally been the haegemon? The Japanese because they've not been buggered by Western colonials and could develop undisturbed? The Indians because they have lots Western educated people?

"Yes, of course!" screams a chorus of different people supporting a plethora of different ideas.

The problem is what China and India in late 19th was barely holding together. Too many internal rifts. It may be even worse than imaged by anotherlurker. Bengals quarry with Tamils. Muslims killing Buddhists. Tibetan territorial dispute. Mongolian insurgency. The China-Japanese conflict over Korea.

For practical reasons, may be easiest way is to create Great Asian Communistic Community, throwing all the Japanese/Chinese/Indian subcultures to the lavatory`s hole. I cannot imagine a less radical way to stabilize such a multi-cultural monster.
