AHC - Pan-Arabic Nationalism

The challenge is as follows. With a POD of 1600 or later, make it so that by 1900, a country that encompasses all/nearly all of Arabia (the more the merrier) exists, and a strong sense of Pan-Arabic nationalism is felt by most of its citizens. Think Germany and Italy shortly after their unification.

Ready. . . Set. . . Go! :D

Define Arabia first.

(Saudi) Arabia covers most of the Peninsula. What more do you want?

Everything from Morocco to (the border with) Iran that speaks Arabic?

I think Rman96 is talking about a state that encompasses the modern day nations of Egypt, lebanon,Iraq,Jordan,Oman,Yeman,Kuwait,Saudi Arabia and Syria.

I was thinking this. Bonus points for North Africa.

How exactly do you get Turkey and Iran into a Pan-Arabic state?

That would be like German nationalism including France.

He probably doesn't know what the word "Arab" means. Here is how the Arab world is normally defined (although I wouldn't include Somalia).

It would be interesting to see this start from an Egypt-centered Cailphate (how one would happen post 1600 I don't know) that absorbs Arabia and the parts of Africa it can reach.

It'd have to be an opponent of the Ottomans, which would be challenging.

Prehaps having a stronger Ottoman empire in the 19th century, that keeps hold of Egypt, Tunisia and possibly Algeria (say Selim manages to actually reform the empire). If Arab nationalism takes hold of the Middle East, the Arabs could press for a dual monarchy. Then if a war comes around, they could side against the Ottomans in an attempt to gain full independence.

Maybe a more successful Muhammad Ali, who manages to take the Levant and Arabia from the Ottomans, and vassalizes the North African states? They could take Mesopotamia and the rest of Arabia in future wars, which would make them essentially the rulers of the Arabs.

Keep him from conquering the Ottomans fully, and this could be a very good way of achieving a pan-Arab state.

Yes; perhaps if he manages to gain formal independence in 1832 after the Battle of Konya, he can then consolidate his realm. At that point, he had Syria, Arabia, the Levant, and Crete under his control, in addition to Egypt. Maybe he could trade Crete for formal independence and Syria?
