AHC: Ottoman Australia

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to have the Ottomans form a colony on Australia. They don't have to be the sole colonizer or 'own' the a large part of the continent, though both will give you bonus points if you include them, nor do they have to 'own' it for very long or perform extensive colonization.

If you end up with Australia having a sizeable Bedouin population then you'll get bonus points. If a bunch of minorities/ethnicities who are traditionally disliked by the Ottomans (Armenians, Kurd, Assyrians, etc...] end up, willingly or unwillingly, moving to Australia then that will also give you bonus points.

It wouldn´t probably the kind of Western colony (economically ) but a province maybe ? Would Aboriginal peoples convert to Islam and form some spiritual Sufi religion ? Ottoman Empire was diverse ( many migrants, even Europeans) so there might be a large number of ethicities and people of any ancestry (probably Sunni). But Christians and Jewish Ottoman subjects might also sail over. They might bring some Bedouins and camels over for the exploration of deserts. Maybe they would hire European explorers, too.

If the Ottomans did colonize it, it would be just like the Europeans. The only reason for the Ottomans to do so, would be to send people there to live.

If you start back when the Portuguese first entered the Indian Ocean you could have the Ottomans more strongly develop their deep water naval technology and get the Ottomans more interested in Eastern expansion thanks to taking several Portuguese colonies or trade posts.

Instead of focusing on European wars, the Ottomans focus on naval technology.Australia is the best place,as they don't have to move through Europe,They great a city populated by Ottoman s and many new people go to the first city in Australia they manage to colonize a big part of Australia, but after many years all of their colonies are taken by other Great Powers and today there are many Muslim and Turkish citizens in Australia.

Well the issue, is that, this would be the Burji Mamluks that command the necessary ports. As well, at this period, Ottoman power in the region were endanger from their eastern border with the Safavids as opposed to the Portuguese. Further, it is difficult to imagine the Ottomans centered hundreds of km from the Red Sea to understand the danger the Western colonial powers could pose on future trade. At least enough to embark on this venture whilst it has powerful enemies in more pressing areas; namely, the Safavids who control Armenia, Erzurum, Iraq and are actively purging Sunni in southern Iran. Not to mention the Venetians or Polish.

Obviously the Ottomans wouldn't colonize Australia in the 16th century. I'm saying that if you can get the Ottomans more focused on the east earlier on then maybe they could go as far as Australia later on. Defeating the Safavids would go in line with this.

In the north Allah was absorbed within the cultural pantheon through cultural exchange over centuries and amongst the Muslim cameleers apparently some wives were converted.
