AHC: OTL New Brunswick ends up in United States in 1783 Treaty of Paris

I should point out of course that the British reply to this was to request the Penobscot River instead.

New Brunswick still gives the US close overland proximity to Halifax, which the British won't like. Again, I think they will offer to trade something for New Brunswick to keep the land connection to the rest of British North America.

The trick to that is: What would that be? Remember, this has to happen before New Brunswick is still fully the Federal government's to dispose of (It still has to be a territory rather than a state), and prior to the Louisiana Purchase there really isen't anything that even makes logical sense for the US to want to accept. Western Ontario is the only contiguous territory, and its unsettled wilderness behind still more unsettled wilderness the US already owns in the Old Northwest. At this point the U.S dosen't have much of an interest in overseas territories, having little in the way of naval power and continental territory to "colonize", and by the time either of the above situations change N.B woulden't possibly not have achieved statehood.
