AHC Other European Colonizers in the New World

IMWO this is probably the single easiest and most interesting way to get additional European colonies in the Americas and it really opens up a lot of interesting PODs because you essentially have North America getting colonized from the other direction.

It does doesn't it. The entire future history of the world in any number of directions.

If the Russians could expand down the coast of modern day Canada down to say present day Washington state and then hold onto that territory then Russia becomes a Pacific power and a North American power. That can take things in a lot of directions.

This is the default of every Europa Universalis (computer game) secenario. This game is heavily mentioned in the other media forums. The results is that the new world is a lot more mixed and is not dominated by the U.S. Canada, Brazil etcs. but that there are many small nations many of them quite prosperous. But also there is more warfare than in our timeline.

Sweden had colonies in Delaware/NJ/Penn until they were conquered by the Dutch in the 17th century, so have Dutch politics go differently and the Swedes will coalesce.

I wonder what would have happened to the Spanish Empire had Ferdinand's son by his second wife lived and Aragon regained its independence?
