AHC: Norse Conquest of England?

Have a kingdom following the Norse faith conquer the Kingdom of England. I think we could have a stronger Jorvik, but that might be unlikely due to its distance.

Are there any Norse-faith kingdoms left by the formation of Kdm of England since that happened after Aethelstan conquered the last of Jorvik?
Cnut's too late as he's Christian.
So that probably just leaves Dublin

Haakon Sigurdsson was successful in breaking Norway from Denmark in 975, and followed the Norse deities. You might, I suppose, have him continue to successfully repel the Christian Danes and establish Norway as a separate, Norse kingdom, from which an invasion of England could be led. But that relies rather heavily on these Norse rulers continually repelling Danes and other nearby Christians, and not deciding to convert to Christianity for a quiet life. And also launching a successful invasion of England. It's quite a stretch, though within the realms of possibility.

Haakon VII or Olav V ascend the British Throne after WWII? Unlikely but just possible for after 1900. A pagan Norse conquest of England in the Viking era is very unlikely.

I think not. If Alfred the Great dies in the western swamps I think that alone would do it.

I think I'd agree with that, by then Wessex was on its own and was on its last legs anyway. Anything that kills Alfred early would give the Danes a chance.

Ja. The Danish kingdom based out of York/Eboracum/Jorvik certainly could have conquered more of England if Alfred failed or had been as incompetent as some of his predecessors. Perhaps even all of it.

However, that kingdom is quickly going to Christianize. If it doesn't, the Franks will support rebellions, invaded themselves, etc., until it does happen. You could even get early crusades.

Y'all don't think there's a shot of the Franks breaking the Norse? Does the AHC require permanent (i.e. at least 100 years) or just a conquest of England?
