AHC: No Revolution

Your challenge, should you accept, is to prevent either the occurrence or the success of the Russian Revolution. The Romanovs must be kept in power for this to be considered completed.

World War I ends more quickly, causing a revolution or abortive revolution in Germany or Austria-Hungary, and the British/French prop up Russia to prevent Communism/Anarchism from spreading.

I am working on a timeline right now this is how it goes

prevent the US civil war from happening

no French intervention in Mexico no second Mexican Empire

prevent the fall of the monarchy in Brazil keep one of his sons alive and keep the Emperor involved in governing this country and not worried about traveling the world.

Now for the hard part prevent the Prussia French war at least until Napoleon the third is dead so the French won't lose as badly if not fight to a stalemate

Prevent the second Balkan war from happening at least until the 1920s

And prevent the World War I until 1927 when the Russian economy will be working better and the communist will have less support in Russia.

This also means keeping in hopefully having the German British naval race come to an end peacefully with Germany and Britain ending it on somewhat of a friendly note

an Britain leave the allies for its splendid neutrality and have them get caught up in a war in Ireland. Keeping them more concerned on their Empire stability

So that's my plan to keep the Romanovs in power hopefully no alien space bats involved at all:cool:This agent has accepted the mission and will continue to gather information to complete it:cool:

A fair number of possibilities as late as 1914. If Russia or the allies have a bit more success or Nicholas has a sudden attack of sense and doesn't make so many errors. Possibly if Rasputin has his 'accident';) a bit earlier that might help.

Alternatively Nicholas dies for whatever reason. His brother would presumably have become regent and seems to have been a lot more intelligent so the regime doesn't lose support as rapidly. It only needs a little and if you avoid the internal problems the army was in a pretty good condition, compared to what it was earlier in the war.

If Nicholas's death was say due to an assassination that makes him a maytar that could also strengthen the regime against internal opposition.

I could think of one: a surviving reformation attempt in the 1905 Revolution that resulted in the creation of the Duma.

How you go about that is the question though. IOTL the Tsar objected to this and as long as he's around (and come to think of it, so long as the Tsarina is around), reform on a grand enough scail to prevent World War I causing the revolution isn't happenning.

If World War I ended early, it could be done-but I still think the Romonov's stand a chance unless they create a constitutional monarchy.

Perhaps actually, having the revolution break out early might be enough to stop it from being a total success. IOTL, Nicky abdicated in favour of Michael, who in turn refused the Tsardom without public support. With an earlier revolution and things less... desperate, perhaps the people (and the establishment) give him that support, out of a desire for stability? From the little I know of him, Michael was at least more willing to give reform a go than Nnicolass II was (not that that's dificult).

Well, you could always avoid the assassination of Alexander II. But that requires a pre-1900 POD.

The Romanovs are done after 1905--after that, tsarist rule became terminally dependent on bullet and knout to prop itself up and keep the people in line.

Wrong forum for this kind of POD. After 1900 the problems of the regime are too irresolvable, not least of which is a man in Nicholas II every bit as much a criminally stupid idiot as his cousin the Kaiser was.

There is always the possibility of Nicky dying in 1900 on his typhoid fever. He came close enough in OTL. There is also this thread:

Imho this is possibly the best post 1900 Pod. It gets dicy after 1904, once Alexei is born, because if Nicky dies after his son's birth, Alex acting as Alexei's regent is almost unavoidable-and if that happens, it'll exaserbate the causes of the revolution compared to OTL if anything. Therefore if Nicky is assassinated after 1904, either his wife or son also needs to be caught up in the assassination attempt.
