AHC: Nazi Germany vs Fascist Italy over Austria

The challenge for today is to get Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy to go to war with each other over the fate of Austria. The POD can be any point after Mussolini's rise to power.

Bonus points to those who manage to make the war spread across Europe.

I'd expect the allies to side with Italy, no doubt. Especially France. If they win, fascism won't be discredited as an ideology, and likely won't suffer the same associations with Nazism in OTL. I'm not sure how to get the war itself started. I do wonder though how this will affect Italy's relations with the allies if it occurs after the Abyssinian Crisis.

It won't turn into an all-out war, especially if we use the 1934 window for this exact thing to happen.

One side has a modern airforce (one forgets Italian achivements in aviation in the Interwar Era), a fully-equipped army, and the other doesn't.

Italian victory is assured, how much of a victory is up for debate. Allies will support Mussolini because at that point he will have proven that he has the willigness to muscle around Hitler that doesn't exist in London and Paris.

Anschluss falls through and Austria becomes a reluctant Italian client-state.

And at some point Stalin likely uses the distraction as an opportunity to force the Soviets onto the Baltic States.
