Try to get Napoleon III to intervene in the Paraguayan war during the American Civil War either on the Triple alliance side or Paraguay side.
If France intervenes in Paraguay's side is Impossible since they were busy fighting the Republican Mexicans in order to place a pro-French Mexican Emperor named Maximilian I, and the rest is history (which you should know).
If France intervenes in the Allied Side which they have no point in doing will help Brazil's manpower greatly, so that may have an affect on the 1889 Coup d'état in Brazil.
Think that's an interesting can of wormsYeah, I know about His detour through Mexico, but let's say he instead goes in the way of getting influence in South America before going to Mexico?

Did you see what I said? Napoleon III had no reason to intervene in the Paraguayan War, all I can see is Brazil gaining an extra hand in helping Brazil and her allies out. Plus Brazil was a great power in South America and had a navy comparable to Spain in 1860s I believe (or that was around 1870s?)
