With a POD no earlier then July 1898 (yes, technically pre-1900 but since most of the events would be post-1900, I post it here) have Nadezhda Krupskaya, Vladimir Lenin's wife, become the leader of U.S.S.R.

Also, what do you think U.S.S.R. under her rule would look like and how would it develop?

I think maybe if she supported Trotsky over Stalin, and as a result Stalin gets purged, then maybe. Big if though. I don't know much about her but from what I read she was seen as somewhat submissive, which doesn't help her win many fans in the Party. But I do think if you had no Stalin and Trotsky took over you'd have a period of turmoil with a handful of leaders coming and going every few weeks up untill WW2 (sort of like a lot of Latin American countries right after independence, like Mexico, which had 6 presidents and an emperor between 1822-1824). I could see her emerge in in that scenario and then perhaps a second allied intervention while she is in power (this time with more force) that has the unintended effect of stabilizing the Party around her. Or Hitler decides that Russia is ripe for the picking and invades a few years earlier, which might have the same effect. But IMO, these scenarios are doubtful. I have a hard time imagining she would emerge under any situation.

OK. So what direction do you guys think the Soviet Union would take under Krupskaya's leadership? What projects and programs would get less funding than OTL and which would get more? What impact would the presence of a female commander-&-chief of Soviet Union have on women's suffrage and rights in USSR and abroad?
