AHC: Monarchical America

The challenge: Establish stable monarchies in New Spain, New France, New England and/or any other territory in North America. Extra points if the parent Royal House moves there permanently - even more if you can get the sub-continent as a whole to be seen as the 'natural home' of kings.

Would be interesting if the English colonies had a Viceroy. Or new Earlships early on. Interesting would be If some aristocrat declared himself independent from the crown. A Sir Francis Drake like guy becoming a King in the Western hemisphere would be interesting

In IRL James Ist nearly had John Rolfe, husband of Pocahontas , placed in the Tower for the scandal of marrying a royal (James considered Pocahontas a "princess") without his permission. After meeting Rolfe's wife, James Ist decides not to but does write a book condemning the use of Tobacco.

In a ASB universe - the descendants of John Rolfe could become "Princes of Virginia."

In IRL - descendants of Rolf include Edith Wilson, wife of President Woodrow Wilson.

Well for starters, you need to curb the rise of republicanism as a political ideology and government system. Perhaps prevent the American and French Revolutions? If Brazil and Mexico got monarchies, it's conceivable that they can appear elsewhere in the Americas. I wonder if it's also possible for some countries to have indigenous Amerindian monarchs come to power after independence?

What If the house of Montecuma is reintoduced as Mexican emperors in the 19th Century ?

I've been toying with an idea that puts King Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, and the House of Bourbon on the throne of a monarchist United States. The POD is that George Washington, in 1781, decides to invade New York City (his favored tactic) rather than go with Rochambeau's plan to stop the British at Yorktown, Virginia. The invasion of New York goes horribly, the Americans are repulsed, and the Brits gain a foothold in Virginia. The American Revolution then continues on for a few more brutal years, and it only ends after numerous French victories over the Redcoats.

This extra spending in the Revolution speeds up the downfall of the House of Bourbon and the rise of the French Revolution. As the United States is deliberating at its Constitutional Convention (where, due to the prolonged years of conflict, a strong federal government or a constitutional monarchy are the two most favored proposals), Lafayette and the French Royal Family flee Versailles and set sail for Philadelphia. Eventually, the United States becomes the United Kingdoms of America, with Louis XVI as King of the American People, and George Washington as the first Prime Minister, or President, or Governor, or whatever.

It seems that “The three headed eagle” needs to be translated to English. :)
