AHC: Mexico preserved its original borders

As opposed to destablizing the US how about more northward pressures? A USA with the Hudson bay area won't want for unoccupied land. Have them push west along a more northern border. Why Fight for California when Oregon, Portland, and Colombia all need to be populated?

I've said it on other threads: simply boosting Mexico's fortunes slightly before/during/after the revolution probably butterflies Anglo aggression. The USA was so aggressive against the Spanish and the Mexicans throughout the continent, because they correctly estimated them as weak. Mexico doesn't have to be a powerhouse. They just have to be a little stronger and better managed, and the US will not be so bold. The US did not need to expand, they simply took when the pickings were easy. if the pickings are not so easy, any tensions are likely delayed by decades or longer.

FellowNerd, at the time of the war, the US had NO need for territories. they still had most of the Louisiana Purchase to settle, as well as the Pacific Northwest. (edit, I'd have to check the exact dates, but it was pretty obvious by 1840ish that they were going to get a huge chunk of the NW)
