AHC: Messianic Buddhism

Doesn't sound difficult, there's already a Buddha called the Maitreya who is basically a messianic figure and revered by many Buddhists, a significantly historical sect focusing on this belief being the White Lotus who started the rebellion that overthrew the Mongol dynasty in China.
 
Depending on what you mean by Messianic doesn't base line Buddhism basically follow that? Or do you mean expecting a Messiah? Because Buddhism takes a Hindu style view of time, the next "great Buddha" isn't expect for something like millions of years.
