AHC: Mary Stuart & Elisabth Tudor

What do you think! :D

Elizabeth becomes even more the scandal of the Christendom and so does Mary Stuart. Mary Stuart of 1568 was no longer the chaste, virtuous princess of 1560 who was compared to the loose Elizabeth who was possibly philandering with Dudley and had illegitimate children; by 1568 she was considered a whore and adulteress by her subjects, and a murderer too. Even France had abandoned their former Queen. Elizabeth's reputation had at least improved by that point, although Catholic circles still talked about her.

Basically, it'd just be ruinous for both. Plus unlikely. Neither were lesbians... you'd need a genetic POD further back. Maybe one could end up a homosexual, but both? Rather unlikely. Sorry to say, but this idea is unlikely. At best they might become friends, but even that is doubtful as Elizabeth was constantly wanting to best Mary; be considered better than her, more beautiful, ect. There's a reason Elizabeth succeeded in her reign; she ruled as a man and acted in the duties of state. She refused the traditional roles of a woman of the period, that of a mother and wife, forsaking them for the duties of the state. Meanwhile, Mary chose the traditional feminine path; she was guided by her emotions; this led to her ill match with Dudley, and even later with Bothwell. While Elizabeth had her outbursts, she could at least temper herself. Mary led entirely with her heart and all it did was lead her to the chopping block.

Two things:
- If Space Oddity manages to wed Mary Stuart with Henry IX Tudor (who is the son of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn in that TL) then the ancestry should not the problem.
- And who said that do not keep their relationship secret. It is more likely that most contemporaries will only see what they want to see and that will be just a close friendship between two women.

Without the execution of Mary Stuart, Philip II will lack the pretext to send the armada against England in 1588. Without the loss of the armada, Spains overall situation will be somewhat better in the following decades.
