Well, USA is pretty wanted though it could be better in alot of places. That being said...
The Mexiwank
Diaz follows through on his retirement, a heart attack having caused him great pain. The 1910 elections go and eventually Madero is elected as the new President. The first nights after, he would claim he was visited by angels who instructed, details put in his private journal. He sought diplomatic means to modernize Mexico. First seen when the rise of Zapata ended in peace talks as Madero would work with Zapata on land development. However, Madero also became warier of the Church and thus would rely on many revolutionary figures like Zapata and Pancho Villa to act as buffers against the Catholic Church's influence along with those of aristocratic conservatives as he would try and have the changes be done.
Despite these efforts, Madero would be assassinated in a horrific coup backed by a conservative coalition. Martyrs would include General Huerta and the rebellion would end when Madero's vice president assumed role to complete his predecessor's role. However, with this new revolution there was a period of instability over the new nation. From the presidency instead would come a semi-presidency system, along with a parliament of sorts. Pancho Villa would become the Prime Minister while Zapata would be chosen as the Vice President among various other positions. The land reforms were accelerated alongside with greater political maneuvers to remove support of the Catholic Church. One step included using Huerta's martyrdom to support indigenous rights as well as reparations.
During this modernization, Mexico would have the opportunity to annex all of Central America, including Panama. Due to a sudden release of a plague years prior, the governments have become shaky and unstable and one by one, the various Central American nations joined Mexico though retaining some form of autonomy. This would be key as Mexico would claim Panama and American plans to build a canal inspired Mexico instead to build their own. The Pan-American Canal as it was initially known as was a joint project between Mexico and the US, only for Mexico to assert full control after arguments with President Woodrow Wilson.
Mexico remained neutral in the Great War though still took advantage whenever they could. Reforms and movements led to the nationalization of foreign oil companies into differing counterparts. While Mexico was considered a Great Power, they still had to contend with their big brother up north. However, the Great Depression would change all that. While the US stumbled and lingered, Mexico would end up recovering, to where some fled to Mexico to work. Mexico would utilize this and increase their popularity by aiding farmers suffering from the Dust Bowl. Mexico enjoyed close ties with FDR, with many noting that the social reforms FDR would implement would be included, along with the Second Bill of Rights.
Mexico's inclusion into World War 2 was controversial. A sudden bout of illness had caused FDR to not run in 1940 and political actions caused Charles Lindbergh to become President. Relations gradually deteriorated because of Lindbergh's attitude along with his friendship with Ford. The USA's isolationism reassured but would be put off by the rise of Mexico's support, namely for the Christians in Korea. That and the stream of Jews heading to Mexico had caused growing pro-war sentiments against the Axis. When a Japanese submarine would attack a Mexican ship in the Philippines, it was war.
The Mexican giant had been stirred.
Mexico would begin mobilizing against this and while the Lindbergh administration refused to get involved, they would send secondary support to the Mexicans in the use of ports. Mexico would send forces over in the East and West, being able to use Hawaii as a port along with becoming a powerful force in Latin Americas. Their influence would lead the rise of like-minded leftists against the Nazi sympathetic elements in places like Brazil and Argentina. The support from South America to Mexico allowed Mexico to counter the Japanese. Going through gradually, the Mexican eagle would wrestle with the German eagle and Japanese dragon. Mexico's unique stance as being a former colonial nation without colonies earned them more affection in the Pacific than say the US.
Mexico had followed Britain's plan on dealing with the Germans though matters quickly complicated when Spain would go to side with the Axis. Despite this, this did not deter Mexico. Mexico, having realized the importance of technology, modernized more and gave grants to potential projects. The first big victory was the restoration of the Spanish Republic after Franco's death (due to Mexico having captured Spanish Sahara) and the long war against Vichy France while the Russians pushed.
Mexico would be assisted by the USA when FDR won a landslide vote in 1944 and would assist Mexico in the East and West. However, while the US dominated the seas, Mexico was through the land, going through Southeast Asia and the hopes of freeing China. The American inclusion accelerated the Allies advancement as France would be freed by Spain and the push continued. Mexican soldiers landed in China. While assisting Kai-Shek nominally, the upper brass despised him though despised Mao more for his opportunism and instead they would ultimately back the Chinese Democratic League. Mexico's heroics would earn them support.
The war ended in 1947 as Albert Einstein, who went to Mexico to assist in the development of Mexico's atom bombs. Mexico would use one atom bomb over in Japan despite not having been tested. The destruction along with most of China and all of Korea under Mexico's control had the Japanese began backing down. Meanwhile, the Maoist Communists retreated over to Manchuria as the folks there surrendered to the USSR, creating the People's State of Manchuria.
Meanwhile, Mexico had pushed further and they would end up catching Berlin as the USSR had gotten to Poland. Mexico would find itself in a leading position as FDR's death in 1949 would lead a vacuum of power that the US would mishandle. Mexico would leave rebuilding Japan to the British as their disgust to Japanese war crimes in China, especially the Rape of Nanking, embittered them. They instead turned to rebuilding China and Korea, with the Chinese Democratic League forming a semi-parliamentary system. Mexico had no interest in the USSR's potential political games. While they did not mind socialism and spoke in support, they would call out Stalin for being nothing more but a caudillo. Their refusal to play into the USSR's hands would ironically let them turn most of the others against the USSR.
Mexico with US support rebuilt Europe, including Eastern Europe in the Europa Nueva program though the USSR declined, leading to further unpopularity to the USSR. Many believed this would lead to the collapse of the USSR of the 1970s.
While the US would retreat with FDR's death in 1949 and a more withdrawn Republican president taking over, Mexico became the champion of the world. Beyond rebuilding Europe and China, they would begin the process for gradual decolonization, calling for infrastructure being rebuilt. This included the British Raj as Mexico assisted in the birth of the Federation of Bharat to keep the subcontinent together while befriending new nations such as Iran. Their refusal to back the House of Saud regarding the Middle East crisis would lead to the fall of the House of Saud during the growing strife. Eventually, the Hashemites would be given reign over to absorb Arabia alongside Transjordan, Syria and the Sunni parts of Iraq with Israeli assistance in exchange for Arabia recognizing Israel's right to exist along with Jerusalem becoming a free city, something Israel agreed to. This was all done under Mexico, who wanted to make sure the place would be kept all right.
The latter half was dominated with Mexico readjusting itself and undergoing cultural revolutions, such as rising secularism and mysticism based on the old faiths. Marijuana became legal along with various other drugs. National single-payer healthcare and various other reforms were passed within Mexico. What many thought would be forever in the shadow of the United States would become one of the world superpowers. Many new stories risen from Mesoamerican folklore along with interactions of the indigenous peoples, the Catholic influence and many others, and so Mexico would also become powerful in pop culture influence. From the rise of American-inspired pulps to the video game industry influence, Mexico has become a big name. From stories such as the Americas' answer to the Lord of the Rings and The Foundation to the "Raton" automobile (formerly known as the Beetle, due to Mexico perceiving it looking like a mouse without a tail), Mexico has become a strong influence.
Within Mexico's circle is Korea, China and much of the Pacific such as Southeast Asia, Indonesia and the Philippines alongside others across the world.
