Valentine's Day ... er ... "Family Day" became a provincial statutory holiday, in British Columbia a few years back. Now we have a long weekend every month of the year. Some people opt for romantic diners. Some go skiing and some would like to visit grandparents, etc. but this nasty COVID restricts travel and visits in 2020 and 2021.
When did it become a big holiday? Is it true that the greeting card companies made it big? All I know is that some people celebrated it with romance by the time of the Saint Valentine's Day massacre, and that the general American public were familiar with it.
