With a POD no earlier than January 1st, 1900, how can this be the flag of France?

Could be anything from the world wars, memorializing a battle where French soldier clutching a bloodied flag stained that way. Or for that matter, any bloody battle or revolution at all in Metropolitan France.

A wave of socialist revolutions across Europe succeeds immediately following WWI, and this becomes the flag of the French Councilist* Socialist Republic.

*Councilist would be the English term used to describe the rough equivalent of the IOTL SSRs, in that the Russian world for councils, “Soviets”, would not be popularized in a non-Russocentric multination socialist union.

Interesting poster - Vichy antisemitic poster, or possibly German (would love to know which).

"It is with your blood that they make you flag redder" (Cross of Lorraine/Pound/Hammer & Sickle, finally arm with Star of David - defines the enemies)

Conciliar?

The RCF -- Republique Communarde de France?

Also, I just noticed - the right-most banner is held by someone with a Star of David on their sleeve.

That says a lot about whoever designed that poster...
