AHC: Make the U.S. Have Native American Puppets

What I mean by this by this question is that how could The United States have internationally recognized native american puppets in their respective homelands i.e have the Cherokee puppet be centered in Georgia, and having them survive into modern times. Extra points for the u.s still becoming a nuclear superpower.

I believe there's a timeline in the pre 1900 forum called British imperialism in the 19th century or something similar.

If I recall correctly there's an independent British backed independent New Orleans and surrounding area, Texas and California are independent republics. Oregan is part of British Canada. There's a New England Republic and three or four independent native states. Some of these are British backed and some are USA backed.

USA is the predominate power in north America but can be constrained by an alliance of by bringing in British forces from outside the continent. In the 19th century there is a number of proxy wars between British backed native states and American backed native states.

Oh, Ok.

Yes, but the Bantustans weren't countries. They were ghettos.
South Africa CLAIMED they were countries.

If the US gave Indian nations actual control over land, they'd likely be only slightly better than Bantustans. Look at most OTL Reservations - not really a great basis for 'nationhood'.

They might have claimed they were countries, but bantustans weren't recognized by the international community.
