AHC: Make the Philippines as liberal and secular as much as possible

Is it even possible? Most of the population clearly doesn't understand the 'separation of church and state' as stated in our constitution. The population keeps saying we need 'Christian leaders', but we all know what happens when we let religion and government rule together right? Sure, it has its benefits, the the cons outweight the pros.

Hmmmm... You need actually need a pre-1900 PoD. Unfortunately, at this moment the Roman Catholic clergy's influence in the Philippines was so entrenched.

Because personally, I find it annoying
Every post on the internet, God is in it
I'm not mad at Christians in particular, just mad at the influence the church has.
It's hard to be an atheist in a country that thinks you should be burned...

Wait, the clergy has political power in the Philippines?

Church doesnt have political power in the Philippines. Powers are separated whether the Americans, or the Filipinos who end up controlling the country in 1899. Based on US Constitution and the Malolos Constitution or every other Constitution of the Philippines in OTL until 1987.

I believe what is being brought up is the people's understanding the separation of state and church. There is no basis or proof what the following OP state is true or not:

Most of the population clearly doesn't understand the 'separation of church and state' as stated in our constitution

This either needs a census or scientific survey.

However, there is proof that the Church has retained a certain level of influence in the Philippines:
