AHC: Make Street Fighter (1994) good

Yeah, the live action street fighter movie is seen as a campy classic with memetic lines quoted non-stop around the net ("Of Course!", "We can go home", "Change the Channel", "For me it was Tuesday"), but how would you make it an actual GOOD film that could be watched for its actual quality?

One way to make it better (not necessarily good) would be to make it a more conventional tournament movie.

Good Movie, Video Game Movie. You can't have both.;)

Realistically? I think with its base premise due to the mostly thrown behind the scenes plot, it was one of the better movies that could've come out of it. I mean realistically, you could possibly Nolanize it, IE get a good sound artist, and try to make the story relatively "realistic" and pair it with good shots and somewhat better acting talent (who or what considering the budget potential I don't know). But it would probably wind up like Super Mario Bros with that set up anyway and suck.

And my discouraging analysis does not have to do with the fact I think it's a genuinely flawed but fun and actually good film.

yeah I think a tournament movie with a drug king pin subplot?

That was the plot of one of the mangas at the time. Adapt that well and you have a relatively solid movie. Another issue might be not giving the role of Guile to Van Damme as I believe he changed the movie somewhat. Also, Raul Julia selecting another movie to be his last might help in terms of getting more fight scenes from Bison.

I've actually never seen the movie, but did it feature some of the "plot" of the Super Street Fighter game? I remember playing this to the end with the T. Hawk player and it had quite a good ending involving his personal vendetta with M. Bison.
