That is, instead of OTL, have a situation where:
1) Israel/Palestine either becomes independent as a binational state, or remains British/becomes part of some other country
2) No large-scale population transfer happens on either side (with the exception of Jewish immigration). Most regions of Israel/Palestine have both Arab and Jewish populations, and most big cities have distinctly Arab and Jewish areas/neighborhoods
3) A situation develops where (at least sections of) the Arab and Jewish communities both have a problem with the "legitimate" authorities, and form paramilitary groups
4) Rather than being like OTL, the Isreali/Palestinian conflict thus becomes more...Northern Ireland like-ie, a sort of low-intensity war waged between Arab and Jewish terrorist groups, with an (in theory) neutral police/army that is nevertheless percieved as favorable to one side
