AHC: Make Bulgaria join Yugoslavia

As title says. Make Bulgarians, a south Slavic people, join the country

Bonus points if this takes place after WW1 or before WW2

I'd say it has to take place before WWII. Yugoslavia was too busy being invaded and partitioned to consider expanding during the war, and Stalin's grip on Eastern Europe was too tight for it to happen after WWII.

Wasn't there some talk of Bulgaria and Yugoslavia uniting in the immediate aftermath of World War II? I seem to recall that part of the context of the Soviet-Yugoslav split had to do with that.

There was talk of Yugoslavia merging with pretty much all it's neighbours just after WWII, including Albania. It was Tito's refusal to play ball with Stalin that ended the matter, though Stalin did seem initially enthusiastic about a massive nation of the 'South Slavs'.

Hey wait, are you talking about the Communist Balkan Federation? I was just thinking that like after Bulgaria surrenders in WW1 they join Yugoslavia.

Kingdom of Serbs, Bulgarians, Croats and Slovenes AKA Yugoslavia

This can only happen post WWII and with a communist government in both countries. In OTL, it was probably prevented only by the Tito-Stalin split, so if the two continue to be allies, it's almost certain.

Well, either that or an earlier Stalin or Tito death. Stalin did try to have Tito killed five times. Tito actually wrote a very funny letter back to him:

"Stop sending people to kill me. We've already captured five of them, one of them with a bomb and another with a rifle (...) If you don't stop sending killers, I'll send one to Moscow, and I won't have to send a second."

Anyway, if Stalin had died (either from poor health or from Tito's assassin), Communism might have looked very different. Tito, or at least someone less oppressive than Stalin, would have dominated. A strong Yugoslavia would have resulted as well. On the other hand, Tito might have been killed (although that's ASB, he was too much of a badass) and the butterflies would be significantly smaller. Mainly there would be no Non-Aligned Movement, and therefore a more stratified 3rd World with fewer quasi-independent states that relied on NAM diplomatic support.
