AHC: Make Baybayanon (Utodnon/Old Leyte) the main language of Leyte

Baybayanon/Utodnon language was also known as (Old) Leyte because it was spoken in the island before the arrival of Waray (in the east) and Cebuano (west and south). It was said that this language is closely related to Waray; in fact, they belonged to the same branch of the Visayan language family (Central Visayan branch). It's still spoken in the town of Baybay.

Here's the challenge: Make Baybayanon/Utodnon/(Old) Leyte language by most of the island's population. The PoD is during the Spanish era, particularly the first century.

Bonus points if you make the dialect spoken in Baybay the standard language.

What was the cause of the Waray moving to Leyte? I'm guessing they settled on Samar first? Basic expansion, or was there an event driving/pulling them there?

Conversely, did they push out the Baybayanon/Utodnon peoples?

I'm thinking that if the Warays were assimilated, then the Old Leyte culture rules from earliest days. If the Waray originally took their side of Leyte by force, it's going to be hard to change, especially at a much later date

Waray-speaking people settled first in Samar, that's correct.

I think it's either migration to Leyte, assimilation of Utodnon-speaking people (remember, their languages are related), intermarriage, or all of given factors.

Just make the speakers of Old Leyte have a population increase.
Possible, although there'll be some migration from Cebu and Samar (I assumed that most of them will marry locals and eventually assimilated to Utodnon-speaking population.)
