Maybe the ,King` lives another 10 years at least ?
How much influence would He have had over the kind of music that was popular among young consumers? I recall in 1985, someone made a video of one of his old songs(can't recall which) to commemorate his 50th birthday, I think the opening storyline had some kids sitting around a school caferteria and someone drives in on a motorcycle. I saw it once on a video show, but I didn't really get the impression anybody cared, at least anybody who really mattered, market-wise.
This was released some time around 1984, and while ten or fifteen years later it could probably have coasted on the lounge revival, I think in the 80s, it just sort of fell flat. Granted, the King had a bit more relevance to the MTV generation(rock'n'roll, after all) than the Rat Pack, but I'm not sure how much.
