I was reading the news about the summit between Greece and Macedonia pertaining to the latter's name. Which got me researching the history of the Macedonian nation and people, apparently (according to my admittedly minimal research) by and large the Macedonian ethnicity and territory were created by Tito in an effort to have a legitimate claim on a corridor to the Agean.

That being said what would be some ways for this to happen (if it can)?
Would Greek population cause major changes the Macedonian language?
Any ways to avoid an all out war?

I'd love to hear people's two cents about this

It would be a hell of a lot trickier than a Bulgarian Solun/Thessaloniki, that’s for sure.

Your best bet is something with the Greek Communists, since they were closely affiliated with the Slavic Macedonians of Greece. The Communists allowed Slavic-speaking schools to open in the regions they controlled and so on. My suggestion would be for WWII to be delayed or altered in such a way that Yugoslavia can afford to support the Communists but Britain can’t support the anti-Communists for some reason. Then when it looks like the Communists will win outright America steps in Korea-style, eventually ending in a divided Greece where the northern half of the nation is split between Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.

Oh shit I never knew the Greek communists went that far in regards to Macedonia, thanks so much for the insight!

Perhaps if Bulgaria had joined Yugoslavia, then it would be possible for a Yugoslav invasion of Greece and conquest of "Yugoslav" territory.
