AHC: Longest Surviving HREGN

What it says on the tin. The challenge here is to make the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation last for as long as possible, either as a more federalized state or the decentralized, Habsburg-run state we know and love. Preferably, do it with a POD not before the 1512 Diet of Cologne that officially changed the name to "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation".

Napoleon doesn't break out HRE, but left it with his 1803 organisation. I'm not sure about the reason (He dies, get never crowned, or have an harsher year, etc.), but it should be enough to make HRE still a thing before German unification.

What kind of German unification could be seen if the HRE survives?

As the HRE at this point was essentially a symbolical feature, on which nobody really gave the slightest fuck about, you'd have at some point a process of unification and I doubt it would be on HRE's behalf. Napoleon more or less put out of misery before it went (even more) downhill.

Ah, well, I did say the POD could go back to 1512, so would there be a way to unite/federalize the HRE in that time rather than let one single nation rule it like Austria or Prussia?

Each german prince, by the XVIth century, actively tried to grab as much power for its own, with little to no regard to his neighbours interests. Without an Habsurg or another dynasty to make them comply, well it would mean really weak emperors.

If something it imples a quicker decline. Now with such an early PoD, it's possible than OTL nationalism concept doesn't arise or not as IOTL meaning; with HRE surviving as some sort of German Confederation with a symbolical emperor.
