AHC: Lines in Europe

So you challenge is, to have borders in Europe form so that there are some at least decently long, perfectly straight borders between nations, akin to borders in present-day Africa. Bonus points if it's done with a PoD after 1800.

OPossib;ly if Austia Hungary is broken up and nobody has any clue how to break it up, or maybe a cold war north/south disvision of Italy.

I don't believe this can be done after 1800. You only get straight line borders where either (a) there are no natural borders around to use or (b) the people deciding the borders have little knowledge about the place. Seeing that Europe has plenty of natural borders, and European statesmen are the powers that be, neither criteria will be filled.

Your only real shot is an early POD where Asian powers colonise Europe and divide the place up.

problem with this is, that it couldnt be done in europe due to both geographical boundries and the diverse cultural groups spread out, which were both the major factos in many countries borders

Stalin goes for a "Fuck nationalities" outlook and divides most of European Russia in neat rectangular shapes akin to the way Western US States and Canadian provinces are drawn. Somehow this sticks. Fast forward to Soviet collapse. Look in horror at the ensuing unholy mess.

There is one between Poland and Kaliningrad. It emerged since the region was partitioned between the Soviets and Poland after hte resident Germans were expelled.

Have more population transfers and neighbouring countries partitioning the then empty lands.

Almot the entirety of the borders of Neutral Moresnet (1816-1920) were straight lines, in fact it was triangular shaped.
