AHC: Libera Ottomani

The scenario: The core of the Ottoman Empire (or Rumelia + Anatolia + Syria), including Constantinople/Istanbul, is occupied by one or more foreign powers.

However, the remnants of the Ottoman Empire are able to completely liberate and restore the Ottoman Empire with minimal territorial losses. The farther away these remnants are from Istanbul and Anatolia, the better.

Any chance this could happen in one of the several European coalition wars against the Ottomans? If not, what's an ATL situation that could cause it?

Let's say that the Ottomans subsume the Mamelukes some time in the 14th century, but are terribly overextended. At this point they still resemble their tribal beginnings much more than OTL, rather than an urban, centralized polity. 1400 comes around and the Timurids smash all the way through to the Aegean. Rival tribal factions rise up in alliance with the horde, and defeat token Ottoman garrisons in Thrace. After a couple generations of intermixing with displaced Janissaries and members of the Ottoman dynasty, the Mamelukes finally retake Anatolia and the Balkans. They also succeed in taking a Constantinople that's been besieged by the alliance of hordes for forty years. The Mameluke elite move their capital to Constantinople and declare their continuity with the Ottoman institutions, but Egypt will always receive more attention than Ottoman Europe in this scenario.
