AHC: Liao Empire in Constantinople

I was going to post something on the ATL City guessing game, but the more I wrote, the more it started to look like a full TL idea than an article for the thread. Obviously, this was inspired by the Mahakhitan thread of a similar idea (Liao Empire in India), but I want to ask if it's possible, and how long they can feasibly last.

My basic take can be summed up by the following:
  • Khitan remnants settle with the Cumans after the Kara-Khitai is conquered by the Mongols.
  • Khitans flee south, bolstered by Cuman exiles, towards Bulgaria
  • Khitans either conquer Bulgaria (might be hard to do with Tsar Ivan II Asen at the helm) or swear fealty to him. They could also turn to the Despotate of Epirus or the Nicean Empire.
  • Khitans conquer Constantinople from the Latin Empire, either as part of the Bulgarian army or as vassals.
  • Khitans break away upon Tsar Ivan's death, perhaps with an Alt-Uprising of Ivaylo
Alternatively, Khitan mercenaries could join the Latin Empire, only to turn on them for various reasons (likely a lack of pay).

That's my basic take so far. I know it's ridiculous, so I'd like to know your take, if there's a better way to go about it?

Sounds interesting~ :3

A Sinofied Empire based in Constantinople which happens to be the crossroads of Asia, Middle-East and Europe. I can almost imagined they're be like East Asian Ottomans.

Tho' the Liaos need to accommodate with its Christian, Muslim and Jewish subjects if they want to succeed. Still, this is an interesting idea~.

The Qara Khitai weren't actually markedly Sinicized, which makes sense because its early core army was a large Khitan garrison in western Mongolia, in the area of the Liao empire the most remote rom China (even if Dashi himself was well-versed in Chinese civilization). Cambridge's The Empire of the Qara Khitai in Eurasian History discusses this extensively. The Mahakhitan timeline isn't super accurate.

Or there is the other way... a lucky shot by an arrow kills Genghis Khan - the Liao defeats and absorbs the Mongols and decides to go on a conquest binge until their steamroller runs out and the empire collapses leaving Liao on the edge of the Byzantine Empire.
