AHC: Latin Empire cliche

I have a few theories, but I'm very uneducated when it comes to the Latin Empire.

100% impossible surely. If it was long lasting and succesful then it wouldn't be dismissed as just the latin empire part of history but would be the Byzantine empire or hell, maybe even Rome/Romania.

Don't know enough of the period for a serious comment sadly.

I think, with more Western assisstance, they could surivive. However, they would have Orthodox enemys to the north and west, with Muslim enemys tpo the east. They would have to be a martial society to survive.

There was quite a feudal setup across Greece and the islands that was in theory supposed to support them but seemed to spend most of its time fighting amongst themselves.

I guess not having your emperor kidnapped and murdered might be a way to start out strong as you mean to go on!

Not really, no.

Empires where the ruling class is foreign heretics tend to be weak.

In the West, the Frankish state lasted because they were catholic, as opposed to the Arian, heretical, vandals, ostrogoths and visigoths.

Now, if the 'latin' rulers converted to Orthodoxy, then they havea much better chance of surviving - but then, how 'latin' are they then.
