AHC: Lady GaGa as a metal artist

I heard somewhere that Lady GaGa actually likes metal, and she and I share the same favourite band (Iron Maiden:D) Is there any way that she could decide to go the metal path as opposed to the more mainstream/pop act?

I highly suspect that much like Wolfmother, The Sword, Bang Camaro, and Airborne, she would have become a classic 70's blues matal revivalist, at least in sound, which in her case would have probably have meant following in the footsteps of Heart, and/or the harder edged parts of Blondie's or Pat Benatar's catalogs. I believe that many an ATL music critic will see a lot of influence from the tracks "Baraccuda" and "Magic Man."

Does anyone else see it?

Bump.

Yeah I agree, from what I can gather, she prefers the classic bands like Black Sabbath, and (as noted) Iron Maiden. It makes you wonder how many pop artists are holding back real legitimate talent in the name of fame and money...

Oh, I don't know. Her affection for the Blues comes across loud and clear loud and clear in several tracks, most notably "Something About You and I."

I think she'd definitely derive influence from synth prog but also more technical genres like tech death and whatever type of music Devin Townsend and Gojira play.

Lady Gaga would probably be even more eclectic and strange than Mr. Townsend in the end and would have a p. wide fanbase across the metal world.

There no doubt that Lady Gaga is a gifted artist, and would likely be a success even in metal, but metal is a small niche, and if she has shown anything, it's that she's a media whore. She wanted to be famous for any price, which is why she transformed her act into the freak show we see today. Metal wouldn't offer the same fame, so the only way I could see her move into metal without radical change her personality is to make her less talented.

Maybe if a band like the Darkness had prompted some kind of glam rock revival in the mid-2000s, made it commercially viable, she could've ridden that wave.

She was floating around the music industry with the "Stefani Germanotta Band" for a while, doing original music with some covers. Maybe they're not as successful at first and decide to take a more metal direction.

This would be around 2005 when progressive metal is suddenly making a splash on the heavy metal community, maybe Gaga would go for something more like that.

You could have Visual Kei become popular in the U.S., thus making Lady Gaga one of the most popular U.S. Metal Visual Kei artists of American extraction.
