For those who don't know Share Our Wealth was a radical movement in the US during the 30s which argued for, amongst other things, a basic income and a maximum cap on wealth. It was the brainchild of radical left-wing Democrat Huey Long. After Long's assassination, he made a lot of enemies and wasn't a nice person, the movement fell apart, although they did manage to nominate a candidate for the 1936 election, in part due to the mismanagement of demagogues, such as Charles Coughlin and Gerald L. K. Smith (who would later become a Nazi), who tried to use the movement as a vehicle for their own anti-Semitic and white supremacist agenda.
Your challenge is to have Share Our Wealth survive as a credible movement and ideal at least until the 60s. Bonus points if they are able to form links with other social movements at the time (either for or against civil rights for example). Extra bonus points if you can prevent the movement being hijacked by racists and demagogues. Super bonus points if Huey P. Newton, who was named after Long, becomes one of its leading figures.
