AHC: Keep the Franks "Germanic"

the title says it all.

I have been reading in on my countries national history (the netherlands)

The Franks as a group alwasy fasinated me.
but their migration into gaul led to several assimilations from both the Franks and the Romano-Gauls.

My chalenge: Keep the Franks more "Germanic" then OTL.
in terms of religion, culture...name it

anny means allowed, besides ASB;)

Isn't that what happened in Franconia?

Yes, and now. Franks dissolved their identity with non-Frankish germans, altering seriously their legacy. Even if Franconia keeps the name of the people, it's more about Alemanic and Bavarian legacy.

Quite the same than Lorraine that was totally romanized eventually during the IX, except for one little bit (Tihiois country) that have maybe more Frankish (linguistically) than the rest, but still heavily influenced by the others low-deutsh languages.

Manage to keep Austrasia in one piece, and do not make Franks settleling Seine's river in the IX

alright. although I am not familiar with the last part.

but how would it affect the face of europe??

Well, if Austrasia (that was the core of Carolingian economic and agricultural power) is in one piece (and not divided) you will have an attractive center in Europe that would be more central than Italy, Spain or Netherlands. You could avoid the dispersion of this nobility from a center that became a border zone, to the new centers (Franconia, Liddle Franke (Little Francia) -> L'Ile de France) and avoid a quick disapperence of Frankish language.

Plus, the austrasian nobility wouldn't have to choose his loyalities (the consequences of Strasburg were that each family had to choose one king, and to not have members in each country). You'll have certainly "european" nobility with domains in all the corners of Western Christianity, in competition with "national" nobility (Britton, Aquitain, Goth, Lombard, Bavarian, Frison etc.).

If the "european" nobility is eventually chased from peripheric territories and became more and more an Austrasian one, you could have a more germanized territory with OTL romance zones passing to frankish.

It wouldn't avoid the romanization and the fact that half of the Austrasia would be romance speaking, but the german part would be more Frankish than Alemanish.
