POD of January 1, 1960. Keep as close to OTL as possible for bonus points.
Start with having Basil Brooke quit as PM as early as possible, Terence O'Neill takes over as IOTL but he will need to be much more determined and ruthless than IOTL. Arrange the meeting with Sean Lemass at the earliest possible opportunity, and pass civil rights legislation that abolishes the property vote in local government, bring in a points based system for housing allocation and fair employment laws, also set up an independent bpundary commission to review the electoral boundaries instead of thos endorsed by the Cabinet and haven't altered in over 30 years despite significant population shifts, also do not let Bill Craig anywhere near the Home Affairs Ministry.
Your Party is going to split over these reforms so you make your case directly to the people, an early version of the "Ulster stands at a crossroads" speech also make a direct appeal to moderate Nationalists that their best interests are served by you continuing in office and hope that enough of them are prepared to support you to make up for the hardline voters who will have deserted you. You counter this by telling Unionists that it is in their long term interests that Nationalists are treated fairly as it will choke off support for extremists and you remind them of Carson's warning to Unionists in 1921
"We used to say that we could not trust an Irish parliament in Dublin to do justice to the Protestant minority. Let us take care that that reproach can no longer be made against your parliament, and from the outset let them see that the Catholic minority have nothing to fear from a Protestant majority."
Assuming this works this will probably be enough to prevent The Troubles and a further reformed version of Stormont may then be able to survive until the present day. But it's going to come at a considerable personal and political cost to you.
